Children and adults are the same but different. Most kids want to play all the time, but they also are required to go to school. Most adults would prefer to play all the time – relax, go to the ...View Article

As I write this letter my rooster is crowing, the kids are playing, the sun is shining, the air is warm and I just heard a woodpecker up on the tree. I am just about to get on the bike. Life is good.
On June 12 and 13, 2010 I will be getting on my bike along with my wife Roz, our fellow Team Erin members (about 50 of them), and about 4000 other cyclists, and riding 200 km on the Ride to Conquer Cancer, benefitting the Campbell Family Institute at the Princess Margaret Hospital.
I have been involved in the ride since its inception in 2008. I am actually the Team Captain of the Therapy Tent at the halfway point in the ride where 60 or so chiropractors, massage therapists and physios keep the cyclists going. This year I will be riding on day two and doing the tent on day one. The thing is this: In order ride, I need to raise $2500.00 for the Princess Margaret Hospital! :)
Why am I doing this? You ask...Sadly my story is not unique. Everyone has a story either about themselves, a parent, spouse, sibling, relative, a friend etc, who's life has been touched by cancer. There are many happy stories, of course, but still the unhappy outweigh the happy ones. My story is about my sister Erin (that's why I am on Team Erin) who died last October at 49 years young from Pancreatic Cancer, leaving her husband and two young daughters. She lived for over 6 years from her diagnosis. She fought hard, and even cycled last year about 100 km, 4 months before she died.
So I ride not only for Erin, but for all mothers, dads, brothers, sisters, children, spouses etc. To honour their struggles, their lives and their memories. Mostly I am riding to make a difference. You can make a difference too; together we can cure this disease and make life good for all of us.
For all those reasons and countless more, I am asking for a donation. Donations are made directly to the PMH, and amounts over $10 receive a tax receipt. This is all done securely on line through the conquer cancer site. The link is below. The average donation amount is $100.00, but any amount goes to the same cause, and still brings us one step closer to a cure than no donation. So please do what you can within your means.
So you want to see a picture of me on my on my bike, eh? well that will have to wait. I have no time for picutres today, I have to train...only 100km to go! Maybe next week I will send you one. In the mean time, there is a great video you can watch (link is below). If anyone knows my sister Marla, who is a massage therapist at our clinic on Fridays, she is actually in the video about at the halfway point working on a cyclist.
